Captain EO at Cinemagique was a 3-d style film, which
lasted for around 20 minutes and starred Michael Jackson as Captain
EO, and Angelica Huston as the "Supreme Leader", along
with a collection of furry animals playing the 'crew'.
The story behind the film had Captain EO and his
crew doing battle with an enemy space craft. During the battle
EO's ship was damaged and forced to crash land on an unknown planet,
leaving the crew to deal with a host of villains.
The film's 3-d effects were achieved through the
use of special 3-d glasses, similar to those used at Honey I Shrunk
the Audience, and were enhanced by an excellent surround sound
system and special lighting effects. (The 3-d glasses could be
easily fitted over the top of existing glasses if worn).
Unusually for the French park, the dialogue was in
English only with no attempt to dup it into other languages.
Overall it was little more than an extended Michael
Jackson music video, in a similar vein to "Thriller",
although in 3-d with a differing themed story, and as such wasn't
really worth bothering with for anyone other than commited Michael
Jackson fans.
