Les Mysteres du Nautilus (The Mysteries of the Nautilus)
is located in Discoveryland at Disneyland Paris and to fans of
the former 20,000 leagues attractions at Walt Disney World and
Disneyland in California, will be quite a disapointment.
The attraction is a self guided walk-through style,
based on Captain Nemo's submarine from Jules Verne's classic story
"20,000 Leagues under the sea", in which guests pass
through the Nautilus, on the way visiting various rooms within
the submarine from Nemo's quarters to the operations and engine
rooms.
The final section of the attraction involves a close
encounter with a giant squid, which is more likely to have guests
wondering how the effect is achieved, rather than being in the
least bit frightened.
The theming is particularly good with great attention
to detail, and is enhanced by the soundtrack and occasional shouts
from crew members, with barked instructions from Nemo, although
all of the commentary is in French.
