Sequoia Lodge Hotel

Disney's Sequoia Lodge Hotel, overlooking Lake Disney is themed to resemble an American National Park Lodge, and is surrounded by a young Redwood forest. It is a Moderate class hotel, with a total of 997 rooms and 14 suites, and is internally decorated with plenty of Redwood veneer and grey stone cladding.

Externally the main section of the hotel has two large timber wings with green-copper rooftops, while the detached 'lodges' are long cabin style affairs, also with similar green-copper rooftops. The hotel complex is surrounded by pine trees, ceders and 500 sequoias, providing a "peaceful forest refuge".

The Sequoia Lodge complex is split into the main building, and five detached lodges each of which is named after a well known American National Park, such as Yellowstone, Yosemite, Sierra, Monterey and Big Sur.

Sequoia Lodge is approximately 10 - 15 mins walk from the Disneyland Paris theme park, but if you don't fancy walking, a shuttle bus is provided via Disney's internal transportation system, which leaves the front of the hotel every few minutes bound for the theme park.

Rooms

Each of the 997 rooms at the Sequoia Lodge resort is 290 sq ft in size (27 sq m) and is decorated in a rustic style. Most of the rooms feature two queen-sized beds or a single king-sized bed, a television in a large cabinet, with clothes storage space below, a table and chairs (one normal chair, and one rocking chair), and air conditioning. The rooms don't have integral safes, although a limited number of safes are available at reception if required.

To the side of the room in the entry area is a small hand basin, with an en-suite bathroom located just beyond it, containing a bath with integral tap mixer shower, and a toilet.

The hotel also has 14 suites, bringing the total room count up to 1,011 rooms.

The price of the room usually includes a free continental buffet-style breakfast. Other breakfast selections are available at an extra charge.

Amenities

Sequoia Lodge is well served with amenities, featuring a fitness centre and pool complex (Quarry Pool) located next to the Big Sur lodge, with a gymnasium, jacuzzi, sauna, Turkish sauna, massage parlour and UVA sunbeds.

The hotel is also well served with conference facilities, with two large conference rooms, named Buffalo and Coyote, and has a video arcade / games room called Kit Carson's Arcade Game Room (each machine carries an individual charge per play).

A luggage room is located next to the main reception area, where luggage may be left 24h a day, so it's ideal if you arrive at the hotel prior to the earliest checkin time, or need somewhere to leave luggage after you've checked out.

Shops

The main store at Sequoia Lodge is the Northwest Passage, selling a small selection of bottled drinks and snacks, and the usual though very limited array of Disney souvenirs, loosely based (rather unsuprisingly) on an American National Park theme.

It is open from 08:00 AM until 23:00 PM, and midnight on saturdays.

Restaurants

The Redwood Bar and Lounge is a very comfortable lounge area with deep armchairs and a vast fireplace, usually with a real-log fire. It's a great bar to relax in on a cool winter's evening over a drink and a little light piano music. The bar is open from 11:00 AM until midnight most days, except for Fridays and Saturdays when it is open from 11:00 AM until 01:00 AM.

The main Hunter's Grill restaurant primarily serves spit-roast, and guests can watch the spit-roast turning over the open fire before sitting down for the meal. As with the rest of the resort, the decor has a distinct rustic charm. Hunter's Grill serves Breakfast from 7:00 Am until 11:00 Am, and Dinner from 18:00 PM until 23:00 PM.

The Beaver Creek Tavern is a much smaller affair, serving barbecued ribs and chicken dishes, although the restaurant also carries a special children's menu. Breakfast is served from 07:00 AM until 11:00 AM, and Dinner is served from 18:00 PM until 23:00 PM.

Both restaurants are located on the ground floor of the main building, accessed via the main staircase near the Redwood Bar and Lounge.

Generally prices are comparable at both restaurants, with an adult main meal costing around 195 French Francs and a children's main meal costing around 55 French Francs, though these prices are subject to variations depending on the selection of dishes.

Advanced reservations for both breakfast and dinner are advised, and can be made at the information desk in the main hotel lobby.

Pools

The pool at the Sequoia Lodge known as the Quarry Pool, is one of the hotel's best features, and includes water slides and hot springs. It shares the same building as the health club / Gymnasium. Towels can be hired for 10 French Francs per day.

The hotel also features a childrens playground near to the pool area, with slides swings and a sand pit, though the play area is not supervised, so parents are requested to attend the area whilst their children are at play.

Entertainment

Disney characters make appearances at Sequoia Lodge daily at 09:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM and Noon, and every evening at 18:30 PM, 19:30 PM 20:30 PM and 21:30 PM except for friday evenings.

A "Ranger's Hike" is available (details from reception) where guests can find information about the vegitation that surrounds the Sequoia Lodge complex.

Check in / out

The earliest check-in time at Sequoia Lodge is 13:30 PM local time, with the latest check-out time being 11:00 AM local time.

Generally Disney prefer a credit-card imprint to be left with the hotel's reception, which will be used to cover any additional items that you charge to the room during your stay. The hotel credit limit is FF 3,000 or 457.35 euros, though individual transactions charged back to the room can only be up to FF 1,000 or 152.45 euros.

On checking into the hotel you are issued with a Disneyland Paris ID card, which is valid up until 11:00 AM on the day of departure. As well as being usable as a charge card, the ID also provides access to the hotel swimming pool, health club, theme park car park, and also provides access to the Hurricanes night club at the Festival Disney area.

Location

The Sequoia Lodge resort is located overlooking Lake Disney, halfway between the Hotel New York and the Newport Bay Club. It is approximately 10 minutes walk from the theme park. A Disney shuttle bus service is available that leaves from the hotel's main reception, depositing guests close to the theme park gates, though unless the bus is already waiting it's probably quicker to walk, since there's a 3-4 minute walk to the park from the bus' destination stop anyway.
