Downtown Disney

[Disney Vacation Planner]

At A Glance Disney's Shopping and Dining area, containing mostly shops selling Disney Merchandise, though some non-Disney merchandise also available. Best place to buy genuine Disney animation cells, or visit the World's biggest Disney Store. Car Parking and entrance is free (Pleasure Island is chargable after dusk). Time required - 1 half day

The Downtown Disney area comprising the Marketplace, the West Side, and Pleasure Island is an entertainment area containing stores, nightclubs, restaurants, a Theatre/Cinema, and the DisneyQuest interactive games building

Access to Downtown Disney is free as is car parking. Transportation to and from the Downtown area is free to WDW Hotel guests, with buses running regularly every few minutes. It's also possible to access the Marketplace by Canopied water taxis, which run from Disney's Port Orleans Resort, Disney's Dixie Landings Resort, and the Old Key West Disney Vacation Club resort.

Note that virtually all of the stores in the Marketplace area (including most at Pleasure Island accept the MKC card, so if you've got the MKC card it's worth doing most of your Disney souvenir shopping in the Downtown Disney area rather than in the parks themselves. Remember however that not all merchandise is available at Downtown Disney, with resort specific, and some ride specific merchandise only being available from the parks themselves.

The World's biggest Disney Store is located at the Marketplace, as is the excellent RainForest Cafe. If planning to eat at the Rainforest cafe it's vital to make priority reservation bookings to avoid disapointment.
