At A Glance

Overview

Pleasure Island, located in the Downtown Disney area is Disney's own brand of nightlife for adults only, and is a complex of bars, dance halls and night clubs, designed to resemble a renovated old rundown harbour port.

Access to Pleasure Island is free during the day, and any of the restaurants can be accessed for free. The nightclubs can only be accessed with a ticket, though the 5-Day World Hopper pass includes access to all of the Pleasure Island night clubs, most of which open from early evening until early morning.

Note that in order to access to many of the attractions guests must be over the age of 18. Also it is illegal to buy alcohol in Florida below the age of 21, and proof of identity is often requested (passport etc).

The dance clubs vary from the Mannequins Dance Palace with it's rotating dance floor, The Rock and Roll Beach Club, The Neon Armadillo with it's country music theme and 8-Trax with a distinct 70's theme.

The Comedy Warehouse features live shows from well known as well as hopeful stand-up comedians, and the outdoor West End Stage hosts live shows and gigs from some very well known bands.

Pleasure Island also houses The Adventurers Club, a not to be missed continuous show housed in a building reminiscent of the Victorian explorers clubs.

The shops are similar to the ones you'll find elsewhere in WDW, but the clubs, of course, are the main attraction here.

Pleasure Island is an excellent reason to use Disney's transportation....Drink all you want at the clubs, but let Disney's bus drivers take you back to your resort to sleep off the hangover. Don't drink and drive.

Clubs:

Mannequins

Contemporary music and modern lighting effects are this club's main attractions.

Adventurers Club

This is probably Pleasure Island's most unique place. The Adventurer's Club is supposed to be a Gentleman's club from years ago. Weird and wild events take place on a regular basis in the library...

Jazz Company

Reminiscent of pre-World War II jazz clubs.

Rock and Roll Beach Club

Live bands relive the Beach Boys era.

Comedy Warehouse

Several shows per night are held at this club, featuring Improv Comedy.

8Trax

Disco lives...got your bell bottoms, platforms, and tie-die in the dresser drawer? Please...leave it there, but enjoy the club anyway if you want.

West End Stage

Live bands perform nightly out here. This is the place where the nightly block parties take place...

Closed / Retired Clubs

The Neon Armadillo, formerly a Line Dancing and Country Mucsic club has been closed down and was bought by the BET (Black Entertainment Network) to be turned into a club for R&B and HipHop style music.

The Fireworks Factory has also been closed down as they are making it into "The Whitehorse Saloon" as seen on TNN.

Shopping:

Several shops sell typical Disney merchandise. Others have some more unique items. Things specific to Pleasure Island can be found here...plus music (CD's, etc.), a game arcade, and other shops.

Admission:

There is a cover of about $16 after 7:00p.m. Of course, you get hit for your drinks and food all night, too. Underage folks (drinking age is 21) not admitted without a parent.
