At Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, Disney have created
an African savanna filled with zebras, giraffes and other wildlife
also on display at the new theme park.
The Lodge is similar in many respects to the successful
Wilderness Lodge, though with an African theme.
"We're building a whole new savanna area,''
Walt Disney World President Al Weiss said. "We've actually
had to raise the hotel up one level so the animals can wander
underneath.''
Rooms
There are 1,307 rooms at the Animal Kingdom Lodge,
over three quarters of which overlook a 35 acre area of Savannah,
stocked with various African game and wildlife. Some rooms will
feature special access and facilities for the disabled.
The rooms are themed in keeping with the African
resort theme, featuring thatched roofs and reed walls.
In total the resort totals approximately 800,000
square feett in size, spread over a total of five floors, in a
horseshoe shape.
Baby-sitting and Child services are both available,
along with Pak-n-Play cribs.

Transportation
Since the new resort isn't on the existing Monorail
run, the main transportation system is provided by the Disney
Bus service.
The resort is close enough to Disney's Animal
Kingdom for a boat-service to be built to transport guests between
the resort and the theme park, possibly using the Animal Kingdom's
now defunct Discovery
River Boats, but as yet there are no plans for this to happen.
This page will be updated as more information becomes
available.
